Why Make a Referral for Early Intervention Services

  • Does your child babble or talk appropriately?
  • Does your child move around - crawl, walk, or run like other children?
  • Does your child socialize with others?
  • Does your child point to pictures or play make believe?
  • Is your child growing appropriately - height and/or weight?
  • Do you worry about your child’s development?
  • Do you ever worry about autism or other behaviors with your child?

If you ever worry about any of these questions or just want to make sure your child is reaching his/her developmental milestones, please contact us to make a referral.

All children who meet the eligibility criteria will be served regardless of family income.

Who Can Make a Referral

Anyone can make a referral - a parent, caregiver, daycare teacher, doctor, or friend. All children who meet the eligibility criteria will be served regardless of family income.

Referrals for Children Ages Birth to 3 Years

To make a referral for children ages birth to three years old, or to get more information, call BabyNet at 1-866-512-8881 to speak with a Central Referral Team member.

What happens after the referral to BabyNet?

Once a child is referred to BabyNet, the family will be contacted by a Service Coordinator, who will further explain the BabyNet system and will then assist in determining if the child is eligible for BabyNet services.

If your child is found eligible for BabyNet, you will then be offered a choice of Early Intervention provider in your area. If you select About Play, one of our team members will be in touch with you within one week to schedule the initial home visit.

Referrals for Children Ages 3-6 Years

To receive a screening for Early Intervention services call DDSN at 1-800-289-7012. You can call between the hours of 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Monday through Friday and leave a message that includes a contact name and phone number. Calls will be returned during normal business hours within the next two business days.

What happens after the referral to DDSN?

If your child is screening in for services and found eligible for DDSN, you will then be offered a choice of Early Intervention provider in your area. If you select About Play, one of our team members will be in touch with you within one week to schedule the initial home visit.
